But what about that calm holding of the dumbbell? We´ve been training our dogs for years with dumbbells that resembled our dogs love: their tugs. Dogs love to feel certain things in their mouth - the wooden dumbbell is not one of those things. That´s why we take the same approach as in Protection where we always start with a soft puppy sleeve rather than a tough and large sleeve. Once your dog´s attitude in the exercise is there, they will easily transfer it on the field.
